YOUR MISSION
- Develop new processes to upcycle industrial sidestreams (solid, liquid) for submerged fermentation of fungal mycelium
- Conceptualize and implement new biorefinery concepts and equipment together with the engineering department to develop a zero-waste process
- Investigate processing of diverse lignocellulosic biomasses to produce fermentable feedstocks
- Prepare research strategy with project plan, milestones and timeline
- Prepare work plan for junior & senior scientists in the lab
- Prepare and correct R&D activity reports for review by the Chief Science Officer (CSO)
- Manage some key academic and industrial research partnerships
- Make recommendations with regards to project requirements
- Execute scientific experiments if required
Unsere Erwartungen - Deine Fähigkeiten
YOUR PROFILE- PhD or master’s degree in Engineering / Process engineering / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Biochemical engineering with 5+ year experience as a team leader
- 5+ years of experience working on biorefinery concepts to upcycle industrial sidestreams including thermal, mechanical, chemical and enzymatic pre-treatment
- Sound understanding of the chemistry of lignocellulosic biomass
- Founded experience in lab work, reactor operations, biocatalysis and diverse innovative biorefinery technologies
- Understanding of biotechnology and fermentation processes, in particular fungal fermentation, as a big advantage
- Proven track record in leading scientific projects and teams as well as managing academic and industrial partnerships
- Proven ability to interpret and report scientific data in a structured way
- Innate interest for understanding and solving complex problems
- Commitment to building a technology from the ground up
- High-level of flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fast-changing, and challenging environment
- Interested in working in an international environment and open-minded enough to succeed doing so
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as process modelling softwares (Matlab, Aspen,etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English / German is a plus
